Striking a Perfect Balance
Agility For A Cause Trial, Feb. 2006

We weren't looking for a third dog, but when "Bat Girl" flew by us in February 2005, we knew life on the Bark Side was in the cards for us.

After attending a conformation show, we stopped to visit some friends.   We couldn't resist playing with an adorable 6-month old Shetland Sheepdog puppy, Kazee, bred by Judy and Dave Guaraldo of Himark Shelties in Florida, and who was being placed by our trainer, Pam O'Day.

What's that line that people say?  "The rest is history."  Not us.  We say it's Karma.  Himark Intrepid Karma Kazee.  That's her name!

Boomer thought she was adorable, and Kazee was smitten with him.  And Vee enjoyed watching her run around and bounce.

Kazee likes the sound of her voice.  She bips.  She barks.  She break-dances.  She bounces.  She hums like a bird when she's hungry, tired or just wants attention.

Kazee comes from a long line of achievers.  A natural at agility (her half-sister Jeep, made the USA World Team in 2004.  Her dad, Jackson, holds both a MACh and his OTCh, and a UDX 19.  He's one of the top-ranked Shelties in obedience.

At 12.5 inches and 13 pounds, Kazee is built for speed.  In her first year of competition, Kazee earned an amazing 15 titles between AKC and NADAC!!  She quickly made it to Excellent B, and began earning MACh points and double Q's!

In her first AKC trial (Nov. 2005), she earned a 1st place in Jumpers, completing the 40 second course in just 21 seconds, with a 100 point score!

At her second AKC trial, Kazee earned her NAJ, then went on to take 1st place in her first Open Jumpers run, again, cutting the course time nearly in half and finishing with a score of 100 (Feb. 2006)!   She's giving her middle-aged handler (me!) a run for the money!

In NADAC, Kazee consistenly completes courses in 2/3 the alloted time.

Life on the Bark Side..... it's fast and fun.   We wouldn't trade it for anything!
